The Best Fairy Tales of Turkey. Magical Stories about Djinn, Peri, Devas, and Other Creatures

Turkish fairy tales are perhaps the most unique in the world: they organically combine classic plots from both the West and the East. Many of them will remind us of the magical stories from "One Thousand and One Nights": huge monster-devas, mighty djinn, cunning and powerful padishahs, ingenious vagabonds, beautiful peris who can transform into anyone, and the magical birds Simurgh and Emerald… But there are also plots in Turkish fairy tales that are familiar to each of us from Russian and Slavic fairy tales as well as from the works of Russian classics.
