Two Captains

"Two Captains" is the most famous and beloved novel by Veniamin Kaverin. The fate of its main character, Sanya Grigoriev, according to the author, is "full of labor, inspiration, and love for his Motherland and his work." It includes a difficult, orphaned childhood, the hardships of war, a journey to the North Pole in search of a mysteriously vanished expedition, and, of course, love. The novel has been translated into many languages, has been adapted for film twice, and a monument has been erected to its characters in the author's hometown, Pskov.
