To return to childhood and gift a dream to our own children, to become better and kinder, we are called by the stories of the great storyteller Hans Christian Andersen. It is hard to name another author who has enjoyed such respect and love from many generations of readers. No wonder that on the birthday of H. C. Andersen, April 2, the International Children's Book Day is celebrated, and the award in his name is the most prestigious global prize for children's writers and artists.
The elegant illustrations by Hans Tegner astonishingly correspond to the spirit of the time. The pastel-toned images by Edmund Dulac, one of the greatest French and English illustration artists of the early 20th century, allow one to fully immerse in the atmosphere of mystery and the impending miracle.
