Nadezhda Ladygina-Kots is the co-founder of the Darwin Museum and an outstanding scientist in the field of zoopsychology. She was the first in the world to study the psyche of chimpanzees, a close relative of humans, and about 100 years... ago proved that animals have the beginnings of thinking. Her works and conclusions were ahead of their time and gave rise to several new sciences, while the methods developed by Nadezhda are still used by scientists today. At the same time, Ladygina-Kots's youth coincided with a time when the quality of women's education was significantly different from that of men, and as an adult, she continued her research despite wars, famine, and scientific censorship. Nadezhda has rightfully become an example and a symbol of success for many women building careers in science.
