Esotericism in History, Culture and Art

Esotericism is a mystery that is inaccessible to the uninitiated, an "alternative" explanation of human nature and the laws of nature through sacred practices. In many ways, without esotericism, there would be neither science nor some religious trends; its symbolism permeates... all works of art, and sometimes even uncreated phenomena. Did Arthur Rimbaud know the main secret of alchemical transmutation? Was Paracelsus a woman? What is actually depicted in Dürer's "Melancholia"? Can samurais and the Ku Klux Klan be considered esoteric communities? What connected Claude Debussy and Erik Satie with the Rosicrucians?
