Mother Goose is an amazing example of how the folklore of different countries intertwines whimsically. In France, she is known for her tales, while in England and America she is known for her nursery rhymes and playful songs for the... very young. It was inspired by Mother Goose's songs that Lyman Frank Baum, the author of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," wrote a collection of tales. In them, well-known plots of English poetry are filled with new details and specifics: Hickory, Dickory, and Doc become little mice, Hey-Diddle-Diddle meets a princess, the Man in the Moon comes down to Earth, and real wonders happen! The illustrations for these tales were drawn by the famous artist Vadim Chelak. They emphasize the playful nature of the tales and convey their kindness and wisdom.
