The Rabbit's View

Young teacher Fumi Kotani comes to work at an elementary school located in an industrial area of Osaka. In Fumi's class is the orphan Tetsuzō — a silent and unfriendly boy who seems to be interested only in flies. Kotani's... patience and her willingness to understand and listen to the child help her find common ground with Tetsuzō. It turns out that sometimes it is enough for one person to look at the world impartially for the lives of many people to change — for the better. The novel by the famous Japanese writer Kenjiro Haitani "The Rabbit's View" (1974) has undergone numerous reprints (with a total circulation of over two million copies), has been translated into English, is well-known in the UK, USA, and Canada, and was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Medal.
