Mysterious Island

In America, the Civil War, five fellow northerners flee the enemy camp in a hot air balloon. A terrible hurricane takes their amazing means of escape to an abandoned island in the Pacific Ocean. Having miraculously survived, they try to escape on a wild island, having no axes, no gunpowder, or even matches with them... However, one match somehow survived - which means they can start a fire, and this is the first step towards civilization.
Predatory animals, hurricanes, pirates, a quiet volcano... - the friends would not have been able to escape if not for the help of an unknown but powerful patron, who for the time being hides his face...
