In the novel "The Boy with the Sword" from the cycle "The Sails of the Espada," the author most fully embodies his concept of the world and the child in it.
The main character of this work is a sixth grader, Seryozha Kakhovsky. An ordinary boy, a quirky dreamer who strongly believes in friendship, honesty, and kindness, fights for good and justice, faces tough trials, learns to take brave actions without hesitation, and overcomes emerging difficulties.
Together with Seryozha, the pioneer fencing squad "Espada" (Spanish Espada – sword) also learns to overcome difficulties, which is based on the squad "Karavella," created and led by Vladislav Krapivin.
