The Day of the Deaf Whale

The main character of the story by Kristina Strelnikova faces an unpleasant incident - he broke his aunt's teapot. This seemingly minor mistake leads to a global conflict in the family, as a result of which the boy ceases to... hear. He plunges into silence, where there are not only lectures and reproaches, but also chatter with friends or heart-to-heart conversations with parents. Will the adults and the teenager be able to find another language of communication, or will they forever be separated by an ocean of silence, in which, like whales, they swim past each other? In the illustrations by Katya Tolstaya, both the boy and the adults seem equally defenseless, as if the artist was able not only to see but also to hear her characters.
