The Happy Ones

The two stories included in this collection transport the reader into the world of a teenager, where there is room for fantasies and solitude, self-doubt, and dreams of happiness. The characters grow as we read about them. Kostya from the... story "The Happy Ones" is troubled by completely adult questions since childhood: how to escape poverty, how to make his mother happy? The dreams that appear to him at the age of ten become a reality when he becomes a student. Kostya finds a path to a special world where there is no poverty or war, where diseases have long been defeated, and where people engage in science and creativity. But will he and his loved ones be able to stay in this world, will someone make a mistake that could destroy their shared happiness?
In the story "The Wayfarer Beggars," the main character is an artist named Lika. For her, another world becomes the village where she is sent for the summer.
Here, the neighbor's grandmother can very well turn out to be an evil sorceress, and a littered street can be a path to the unknown.
