It can't be any other way in a family where six sons, each of the six boys is named Jean, and the father is like the seventh Jean-rascal, just a bit older.
Writer Jean-Philippe Arrou-Vignod (born in 1958), known to readers in the guise of Jean B., does not nostalgically reminisce about the past, but transforms his memories into a unique world of real childhood, one that you want to return to again and again. France of the 1960s unexpectedly turns out to be as alluring and enchanting as Narnia or Middle-earth - and the details of an ordinary person's life from the last century become a familiar and understandable environment for the most unusual adventures.
The entire series is designed in a cohesive style and illustrated by Dominique Corbasson (1958-2018). The light, caricatured style of the French artist echoes the mischievous tone of the text and adds humorous moments. The seventh part of the collection, "Pea for Six," is one of the last works in the artist's life, and perhaps, in the illustrations for this edition, there is a whisper of quiet farewell.
