Once Upon a Time There Was Trr!

The characters of Lyudmila Petrushevskaya – princesses, piglets, wizards, giants, hares, and even cabbage and a steam train with a shovel – are far from the usual conception of heroes in folk or authorial fairy tales. Among them are the rich and the poor, hard workers and slackers, some are capricious and disobedient to their elders, while others are caring and positive. But all of them are provocatively original, think and act unconventionally, and incredible events or transformations always happen to each of them. Nevertheless, in the end, as is customary in fairy tales, good always prevails over evil, greed, and deceit.
