Boris Vladimirovich Zakho­der (1918-2000) – a children's poet, writer, and translator, Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation. Boris Zakho­der's love for learning foreign languages was instilled by his mother, who worked as a translator and spoke five... languages fluently. However, the future writer struggled to find his calling: during his student years, he changed three universities (Aviation Institute, Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University) and ultimately settled at the Gorky Literature Institute. His love for natural and exact sciences is reflected in Boris Zakho­der's poetry, where the poet amusingly and unobtrusively informs children about the laws of nature and animals.
