The Night of Times

On one of the last days of October 1936, concluding an incredibly long flight from Spain, Ignacio Abel finds himself at Pennsylvania Station. Leaving behind his family, which he has been cut off from for several months by the front, he immerses himself in memories of a secret romance with the woman of his life and in reflections on the origins of the fratricidal conflict.
"The Night of Times" is a large novel about a love that was born a year before the start of the civil war in Spain. It is the pinnacle of Antonio Muñoz Molina's creativity and a unique text about the irreconcilable contradiction between a person's longing for love and the ruthless bloody carnival of ideologies and fanatics that destroy the world.
