The Little Princess

Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849-1924) was an English novelist and playwright whose works for children are part of the Golden Fund of world children's literature. Among her most famous works are "The Secret Garden," "The Little Princess," and "Little Lord Fauntleroy."... These have repeatedly been adapted into feature films. "The Little Princess" is a tale about a seven-year-old girl named Sara Crewe. Born in India to an English father and a French mother, she soon loses her mother. Her father, who dotes on his daughter, does everything to ensure that the girl is happy and does not feel like an orphan. However, soon Sara turns seven, and by necessity, her father takes his beloved daughter to London. There, Sara is set to attend school. The girl has no idea what difficult trials fate has in store for her. For middle school age readers.
