It is difficult to talk about death. While you are alive, it seems unreal. When death approaches, you yourself as a personality disappear. But thanks to the knowledge we gain through contact with it, we become truly human. Without it, we would not understand what life means. Development in the physical world is connected with pain and loss: even evolution occurs through generational change and the necessity for all living beings to withstand adversities, acquire immunity to diseases, and learn to cope with dangers. Death is not only a terrifying and heartless monster that takes away our loved ones and our very lives, but also a kind advisor that shows us what is truly valuable to us, for what we are willing to endure hardships and perform feats. Only the knowledge of the finiteness of one’s existence in this world can help a person stop engaging in meaningless things, in unlovable work.
