Future writer Eggy Morton is going to the waters in a Yorkshire spa where her widowed mother plans to improve her health and recover from a long period of mourning. Not long ago, at Christmas, Eggy and her best friend Hector found themselves in a terrible predicament but managed to solve the mystery of another murder. Of course, Eggy's unhealthy curiosity is piqued when she learns that shortly before their arrival, a former patient of the spa passed away. A little later, another corpse appears under mysterious circumstances. Eggy and Hector, with the help of Grandma Jane and George, a young patient and friend, suspect the guests and staff of the "Wellspring" hotel, and they also get acquainted with the mysterious trade of a funeral service bureau.

Was there one murder at the spa? Or was it two? Eggy and Hector exercise their gray cells, while their quiet journey to the resort nearly turns into a disaster.
