Victoria Toponogova is a talented writer and experienced educator. In a series of fairy tale stories about completely different, yet perfectly complementary namesakes Shustrik, she reveals important life truths and subtly teaches how to adapt in a group and establish...
relationships with others.
It sometimes happens that completely dissimilar creatures have the same name. So, are they similar in some way? This unexpected discovery marks the beginning of the acquaintance of the main characters - the kurlic Shustrik and the murrlic Shustrik. Who are they, really? It's a complicated question. The kurlic seems to be a bird, but doesn't quite know how to fly. However, it can get into complicated life situations and then find unexpected ways out. And if the exit is too unexpected and the situation only worsens, that's what a loyal friend murrlic is for.
Predatory murrlics go hunting for kurlics, but the little murrlic Shustrik manages to warn his feathered friend and namesake. Together they set off away from dangerous places. On their way, the heroes meet both old acquaintances and mysterious strangers. Shustrik talks with the mysterious inhabitant of fairy tale waters - the fish Shir, helps the elephant-zebrus Vishenka develop her talents, and then because of those same talents learns to find compromises with neighbors in the form of sovenious - feathered nocturnal inhabitants of the forest.
One of the sovenious, the kind and sensitive Seiva, can serve as a source of inspiration and example not only for Vishenka but also for young readers. Although Seiva was born deaf, he did not become embittered or lose heart. The sovenious managed to avoid inner deafness: he learned to live in harmony with himself, to understand others well, and found his calling in painting, decorating the cave's vaults with beautiful drawings.
