Flying Cheese: Adventures of the Family from Cherbourg

Summer has arrived, which means our good friends — the Jean brothers and their parents — are in for new adventures. Summer menu: moving from their home in Cherbourg, vacationing in the village at grandma’s and grandpa’s, a fish named... Suppository, a bunch of big-eared cousins Fugace, and, of course, a mysterious object called «Flying Cheese». For those who have already tried «Omelet with Sugar» and want something unusual, we suggest enjoying «Flying Cheese» with a sauce of fine humor by Arru-Vinyo.

Jean-Philippe Arru-Vinyo — one of those six Jean brothers we are going to talk about. To be more precise — Jean B., the second eldest. Since childhood, he loved to read. In 1984, he published his first «adult» novel, for which he received the «Best Debut» award, and a few years later released his second book — a children's one. Today, Arru-Vinyo, the author of around thirty books, heads the children's literature department at the largest independent French publishing house «Gallimard». His series «Adventures of the Family from Cherbourg», so beloved by children and parents in France, was created in collaboration with the famous illustrator Dominique Corbasson, whose works can be seen in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Madame Figaro, and Vanity Fair. In spirit, «Adventures of the Family from Cherbourg» remind of the famous «Little Nicolas» by René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé: the heroes of «The Family» are the same cheerful, restless boys who are always eager to stir something up.
