On the Great Sea Route: a tale, stories

"Translator from the wordless" - this is how Vitaly Valentinovich Bianchi (1894–1959), a Russian writer, educator, and naturalist, referred to himself. From early childhood, he felt the deepest connection with the world of nature: together with his father, an ornithologist,... he observed the lives of birds and animals, learned to understand their habits, to hear the quiet, and to notice the elusive in the life of the forest. Childhood and nature forever merged in his work: addressing young readers, Bianchi created fairy tales, stories, and novellas about our smaller brothers, combining remarkable poetry with precise knowledge. This collection consists of wonderful examples of the writer's children's prose - the novella "On the Great Sea Route," dedicated to the life of migratory birds, and small works that are part of the cycle "Stories about Silence." Not claiming the lightness and playfulness of Bianchi's magical tales, they teach us to look deeply into the beauty and listen to the silence of the surrounding world - for it is this real world that is truly full of wonders.
