Dad is very busy: he is working on an important project. And since he works from home, he asks his son Mika not to distract him. But Mika is bored ˗ after all, he is a child and wants to...
play with someone.
Mika asks for permission to get a pet to have someone to spend time with while Dad is busy. After some thought, Dad gives Mika his consent and his wallet, with which the boy goes to the pet store. There, Mika buys a sand mouse. And they play hide and seek all over the living room. However, then the mouse hides so well that Mika goes back to the pet store and this time returns with a puppy, because dogs have an excellent sense of smell and can find anyone. Well, and then... then Mika had to run to the pet store a few more times.
And now, when by Sunday Dad finally finished his important project and looked around, he discovered that there was a large friendly company sitting at the kitchen table and having breakfast: Mika with the sand mouse, a puppy, a seal, a penguin, a parrot, and a baby elephant.
This incredible story about what can happen when parents get too caught up in work was told and illustrated by two contemporary artists from Hamburg, Constanze Spengler and Katja Hermann.
