School in the Cornfield

When Quinten was little, his mother disappeared after a terrible storm. Those around believe that because of this, Quinten grew up to be so strange. He often has nightmares and keeps talking about zombies, witches, and sorcerers. Now everyone around... has become strange, and Quinten feels the most normal. For after the hurricane, a Dark School appeared out of nowhere in the cornfield, and all the villagers are convinced that it has always been here and that children have always studied there. Only Quinten remembers that just a couple of days ago, the school buildings weren't even in existence, and he notices how adults seem to forget about their children after taking them to the Dark School. Is this witchcraft? Why is it only Quinten who has retained his memory? Could his abilities be connected to the disappearance of his mother?
