Fables

Ivan Andreyevich Krylov 1769–1844 – a Russian writer, publicist, fable writer, member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences since 1841. He wrote more than 200 fables, characterized by their satirical sharpness and vivid figurative language. In Krylov's fables, societal and human vices are exposed: rudeness, greed, ingratitude, cunning. N.V. Gogol called Krylov's fables «the book of wisdom of the people themselves».
