Just a little more, and eleven-year-old snow maiden Alena Salinder will fly out of school. She really needs to prove herself on the Assignment! But alas: on her very first flight, Alena's bag of magical toys, which she was supposed to give to the children for New Year's, is stolen. Due to a series of misfortunes and strange coincidences, Alena thinks that she is being hunted by the White Seagull. This witch destroyed one of the students of the school many years ago and disappeared without a trace. Along with her, the Crystal of the North, which holds the magic of winter, also vanished.
Alena feels a connection with the elusive Guardian of the Crystal. Perhaps she knows why Alena has nightmares almost every night? In this terrible dream, the snow maiden turns into ice again and again.
While searching for the gifts with her faithful arctic fox, Alena does not suspect that she herself is the key to the mystery of the missing Guardian.
