The ash tree is... a product of the decomposition of a complex organic compound - calcium gluconate - into calcium oxide and carbon.

Instructions

Place the ceramic tile on a metal tray or a similar non-combustible surface.
Pour the urotropine onto the tile in a mound.
Make a depression on the tile, resembling a volcano crater.
Pour calcium gluconate into the depression.
Light the urotropine in several places.
Watch as your ash tree begins to grow.
At the end of the experiment, extinguish the fire!
