Horacio Quiroga (1878-1937) is rightly called the "Uruguayan Kipling." Having lived several years in the selva — the remote Latin American jungle, he wrote beautiful tales about the wild inhabitants of these places, their complex, sometimes tragic lives, and their... relationships with humans. The plots of the tales are unusual, but their essence is simple: help your neighbor, do not envy, listen to your mother, be grateful for kindness and help, and do not unleash senseless wars.
