French professional aviator, inventor, poet, and writer Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger de Saint-Exupéry was born on June 29, 1900, in the Château de la Môle in Lyon and embarked on his final flight on July 31, 1944, at 8:30 AM from an airfield in Corsica.
