At nine years old, Alfred knows too well what loneliness is. He has no mother, his father is always somewhere else, and when he does come home, he pays no attention to Alfred and forgets to leave him money for food. Alfred is used to handling everything by himself. But one night, something incredible happens: someone throws a newspaper into the mail slot, wrapped around woolen socks, an apple, and a sandwich! This is how Alfred meets Amanda Shelest, whose keen hearing catches the sighs of Forgotten children, and in her home, he finds an antique radio. And then Alfred gets an idea: why not start a secret radio show for all the other forgotten children like himself?
