Can we live our everyday life without metals? Imagine that they suddenly disappeared - no cars, no trains, no machines, not even the most common knife and screwdriver! And if metals completely vanished, our planet itself would cease to exist:... a void would form in place of its iron core. The magnetic field created by the core would disappear, leaving us unprotected from cosmic radiation.
Moreover, a person wouldn't survive even a second without metals. Without calcium, teeth and bones would crumble to dust; without iron, blood would stop transporting oxygen throughout the body; and without magnesium, plants would cease to release that oxygen.
Of course, a small book cannot cover everything about metals and their characteristics. But it is absolutely clear: modern humans cannot do without knowledge of metals!
