The story begins with the team of travelers deciding to set up camp by the forest lake. While the boys are putting up the tent, the girls go to the creek to get water for lunch. And what a temptation to dip into the cool water, even for a moment! Lelya, Rufa, and Lada decide that refreshing themselves wouldn’t hurt, and begin to splash joyfully, when suddenly... one of them starts to sink! Fortunately, Dad Vanya decides to help the girls and is nearby! He pulls the unfortunate swimmer out and, filled with a whole range of conflicting feelings, tells the kids, along with Dad Sasha, about how to behave properly in the water to avoid trouble. Together with the heroes, readers will learn about this too. Moreover, the kids will discover: why you shouldn't drink water from the lake, how to light a fire even if everything is wet from the rain, the secret to successful fishing, and understand how important it is to listen to adults while in nature.
