What to do if you became a king just yesterday, and already accidentally released a bloodthirsty red dragon that is about to eat your entire kingdom? Or how to be if today you are a princess, and tomorrow - a birthday gift for a terrifying and very hungry purple dragon? Well, the main thing is not to despair, to wipe away your tears and… remember that you are in a magical fairy tale. However, one should not rely solely on magic, for in the fairy tales of Edith Nesbit, cunning and resourcefulness are indispensable! English writer Edith Nesbit (1858-1924) is rightly considered one of the founders of modern children's fairy tale literature, alongside Lewis Carroll and C.S. Lewis, and her witty, vibrant, and imaginative tales have long been recognized as classics. The magical world created by the writer is as real as it gets, but in this reality, no one is surprised by wonders: here, dragons can fall straight from the sky, and the North Pole can 'move' to the neighboring block one fine day. This book contains five tales about dragons, retold from English by the famous poet and translator Leonid Yakhin. The illustrations were created by a young St. Petersburg artist, Elena Zhukovskaya. In her drawings, fire-breathing lizards come to life, festive fireworks scatter in hundreds of sparks, and real magic takes place - be careful, for dragons are not to be trifled with! For younger school-age children.
