Anya and Masha are best friends and neighbors. They study in different schools, but attend artistic gymnastics classes together. One day after class, Anya loses an envelope with money. The friends conduct an investigation: Masha uses a tried-and-true method of... deduction, while Anya uses the princess method. She doesn’t yet realize that it is a method: she simply writes down her daily experiences in the form of fairy tales. But these fairy tales bring the girls closer to the solution and help restore justice in the gymnastics group, where, like in almost every children's collective, there were their own princesses, fools, and outcasts.
