In 2020, Pek Hina was awarded the Astrid Lindgren Literary Prize for this book. Pek Hina is a well-known children's writer and illustrator from South Korea. She graduated from the Faculty of Education at Ewha University in Seoul and the Animation Department at the California Institute of the Arts. Many of her books have been translated into European languages. The characters are memorable to readers thanks to the unique author's technique of the illustrator-animator.
