This unusual fairy tale by Pak Hina is based on an ancient Eastern legend about the jade hare and the elixir of immortality, but it is aimed at modern toddlers who are unfamiliar with mythology. Pak Hina is a well-known children's writer and illustrator from South Korea. She graduated from the Faculty of Education at Ewha Womans University in Seoul and the Animation Department at the California Institute of the Arts. Many of her books have been translated into European languages. Pak Hina's characters are memorable to readers thanks to the unique author's technique of the animator-illustrator. She was recognized as the best illustrator of the year at the Bologna Children's Book Fair for the book "Cloud Bread" and was awarded the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2020 for the book "I Am a Puppy."
