The book by Swedish writer, Nobel Prize laureate, and member of the Swedish Academy Selma Lagerlöf (1858-1940) «The Wonderful Adventure of Nils Holgersson with the Wild Geese through Sweden» (1906-1907) was conceived as a geography aid for children, but it turned into an enchanting magical story that received truly worldwide recognition among children and adults. In our country, the story of Nils's adventures remains the most famous work of Lagerlöf, having been repeatedly published in various translations, but the most popular is the free retelling published in this edition, created by 3. M. Zadunaiskaya and A. I. Lyubarskaya. The edition is accompanied by a highly awarded cycle of illustrations by the well-known Moscow artist Boris Diodorov.
