The tales of the resourceful rascal Brother Rabbit, the cunning Brother Fox, and their neighbors are known and loved by children all over the world. All these stories are based on plots from African American folklore, collected and rewritten by American journalist and writer J.C. Harris (1848—1908). Russian readers became acquainted with Harris's tales in a free translation by the remarkable writer M.A. Gerschenson (1900—1942). The edition is accompanied by a series of illustrations by the famous Petersburg artist Latif Kazbekov.
