Oscar Wilde is a significant writer of the European Decadence era. In his work, he avoided everything trivial, because art was meant to be a refuge from boredom and banality. Fairy tales hold a special place in Wilde's oeuvre. Beautiful, tender, and sad - they invite the reader to reflect on good and evil, friendship and compassion, repentance and loyalty.
