The story of a loyal dog to its owner, unexpectedly getting into trouble. Bim, born with a white coat that does not conform to the standards of Scottish setters, lives in an apartment with his owner, a lonely pensioner named...
Ivan Ivanovich. The owner, a former journalist, participant and veteran of the Great Patriotic War, now a cheerful hunter, loves his dog and regularly takes him hunting in the forest.
Suddenly, the owner becomes aware of a shard in his heart, he is taken for surgery in Moscow, and the dog is entrusted to a neighbor, but due to negligence, he rushes out of the apartment in search of his owner and ends up on the street. Traveling unsupervised, Bim meets many people - kind and cruel, old and young - all described through the dog's eyes, through the prism of its perception. Bim experiences various attitudes, from pity and attempts to help to cruelty. For various reasons, no one is able to take him in permanently. After enduring many trials and nearly awaiting his owner's return, Bim dies, becoming a victim of betrayal and slander from the neighbor wishing to get rid of the dog's presence in the yard.
