Great Lent is called the spiritual spring or the spring of repentance; for every believer, it is a time of intensified prayer and, of course, reading the Gospel. This book contains the gospel readings for Great Lent in Church Slavonic and Russian, along with comments from modern clerics. These reflections from deeply devout people are intended to help us not turn Great Lent into a ritual, but to live it in such a way as to offer God our gratitude, faith, and determination to remain with Him forever.
