The Revelation of the Image. Creative Search and Reflection on Iconographic Tradition

This album is a collection of illustrations of iconographic works and church murals, created over the years by the iconographer of the Vvedensky Monastery in Ivanovo, Archimandrite Nikifor (Mikula). The publication also includes comments and reflections by the iconographer on... theological and philosophical topics, the history of icon veneration, asceticism, and the meaning of artistic creation. The album is preceded by an article by one of the leading researchers of contemporary iconography, Irina Konstantinovna Yazykova, about the artistic style of the iconographer. The publication is richly illustrated and allows us to see how in a modern Orthodox monastery, genuine artistic creativity is possible, merging the ancient and the new.
