Little Farmer

«Little Farmer» — the fifth book of the famous autobiographical epic by American writer Laura Ingalls Wilder. While reading this book, it is impossible not to compare the lifestyle of children at the end of the 19th century and the... beginning of the 21st century.
Hardworking, honest, and curious Almanzo — a born farmer, even though he is not yet 10 years old. He can do almost everything that adults do: harnessing the steers and hauling logs with them, milking cows, churning butter, shearing sheep, sawing cubes out of ice and building an ice house from them, planting, weeding, and saving crops from frost — it’s too much to list. The main thing is that these «adult», sometimes tiring and physically demanding responsibilities do not burden him. Almanzo performs them as a matter of course and even with pleasure, and still manages to study at school.
