The Tale of the Priest and His Employee Balda is a fairy tale by A. S. Pushkin, written in Bolshoye on September 13, 1830. It is based on a folk tale recorded by Pushkin in Mikhaylovskoye from Arina Rodionovna. It was not published during the poet's lifetime. At first glance, unlike other tales by Pushkin, the plot is simple: a greedy and foolish priest, upon meeting the employee Balda, receives punishment for his greed.
