Dreaming of the Stars

Tom and his mom, who works night shifts at the hospital, live in a big city. Tom loves comics about the Astronaut and dreams of someday embarking on an intergalactic journey. And of course, he really wants to see the stars. But it's impossible – not a single one can be seen in the artificially lit sky over the city when he steps out onto the fire escape of his apartment building. But one day, the young dreamer gets the opportunity to see the stars: despite her busy schedule, Tom's hardworking mom finds a way to take him out of town – to arrange a real camping trip for her son. And she gifts him a special night, which they spend together outside the usual hectic routine. For one magical night by the pond, the Milky Way in all its splendor belongs only to the two of them! The boy discovers a new side of his mom; together they feel like one with the Universe, and after returning home, Tom cherishes these memories. The story of Tom is complemented by interesting and educational information for young astronomers and their parents at the end of the publication – about constellations, light pollution of the sky, dark sky reserves, and astro-tourism.
