Doctor Zhivago

The novel by Boris Pasternak (1890-1960) "Doctor Zhivago" was created over ten years (1945 – 1955) and is one of the most significant works of Russian literature of the second half of the 20th century.
Painting a broad canvas of the... life of the Russian intelligentsia against the backdrop of the dramatic period from the beginning of the twentieth century to the Great Patriotic War, the book touches upon the mystery of life and death, the problems of revolution, and Russian history. The novel develops several plot lines – the destinies of the main characters intertwine in a complex knot.
The book was met with negativity by the Soviet literary milieu, and the work was under prohibition for a long time. "Doctor Zhivago" was first published abroad. A full first publication in its homeland was only received during the Perestroika period - in 1988.
