The third book of the pentalogy about the skilled beastmaster Nathaniel Bumpo. He, his loyal friend Chingachgook, and their new companion Jasper accompany the beautiful Mabel to the shores of Ontario, to the fort where her father serves. This path is difficult: in North America, the war between the English and the French is in full swing. Our heroes win a skirmish against the Indian allies of the French, but it is too early to celebrate victory. Even in the fort, it is unsafe: traitors lurk not only outside but also within. And in these moments of danger, the warrior heart of the Scout is subjected to a new trial - love.
