Alexander Stepanovich Green (1880-1932) occupies a special place in the history of Russian literature. In his works, as K. Paustovsky noted, he created "a world of cheerful and brave people, a wonderful land full of fragrant thickets and sunlight, - a land not marked on the map, and incredible events that spin the head like a sip of wine". In this world, reality and fantasy are oddly intertwined; they are not separated in space, but rather overlap, illuminating one through the other, helping the reader to look into the depths of the human soul.
