Meet Mo, a future sixth grader, almost an honor student and a born detective. Mo has a whole summer ahead of her! She will be doing karate and fishing with her best friend Dale, helping Colonel and Miss Lana, who... are raising her, in the family café, and continuing her search for her mother (newborn Mo was found on the riverbank eleven years ago, and her story remains a mystery).
However, everything turns upside down when a murder occurs in their quiet town, Detective Joe Starr takes on the investigation, and Dale finds himself under suspicion. Mo and Dale set up their own detective agency to find the killer and clear Dale's name. But in the process, they also uncover secrets about their own lives.
