The dive bomber Ju 87 — one of the most recognizable aircraft of World War II. Its first flight took place in 1935, but it received its combat baptism in 1938 during the Spanish Civil War. In German propaganda, it... became a symbol of the power of the Luftwaffe. The aircraft was successfully used in battles in Poland, Scandinavia, France, Crete, and during Operation 'Barbarossa'. However, the 'Junkers' did not show themselves during the Battle of Britain in the air. As Germany lost air superiority to the Allies, the role of the JU 87 diminished. Without the cover of fighters, the 'Stukas' became easy targets. The JU 87 B was the first production series of this aircraft. By 1944, around 6,500 machines of this type had been produced in total.
