Midshipman Tikhonya

Frederick Marryat – a British naval officer who served nearly a quarter of a century, a hero of the Napoleonic Wars and an author of adventure novels that were immensely popular not only in England but also beyond its borders. The protagonist of the novel is Jack Easy (Tikhonya), a spoiled young man from a wealthy family, who sees himself as a fighter for equality and human rights. Finding no justice on land, Jack sets out to seek it at sea and joins the navy, where he befriends an African sailor, Mesti, a runaway slave. The new life experiences gained by the friends in the harsh conditions of naval service force them to reassess their views and accept the necessity of strict discipline. Jack's career is on the rise.
